This week I was in creative and social recovery mode after having a pretty busy schedule last week. Despite being in recovery mode, I still woke up feeling pretty fatigued Saturday and realized I needed to have an even more intentional reset day so here’s everything I did to recover.
Some goals I had for the day:
- Write at least 1,000 words
- Don’t dine out today
- Do at least one load of laundry
- Read
6:30 AM
I’m usually a morning person that wakes up around 5:30, but daylight savings was this weekend so I started about an hour later. In the morning I crawled out of bed, grabbed a coconut water and worked on my next blog post for about an hour. After finishing everything I needed to, I settled in to the couch to finish the last half of The Secret Society of Tea and Treason by India Holton.
10:00 AM
A few hours later, after a morning coffee, breakfast and enough time to finish my book, I decided it was finally time to tackle laundry. Two loads, 40 minutes in the washer and dryer each, meant I had about 2 hours tied to the house. This turned into perfect K-Drama time. I’m currently obsessed with Tale of the Nine-Tailed (2020).
12:00 PM
Lunch! I was starting to itch to get to some writing so I didn’t want to spend too much time on making and eating my second meal of the day. That’s usually when I bring out a canned Rao’s soup.
Around 12:30 PM, laundry was folded, soup was eaten and I was ready to write. Something I don’t always do, but did today, was turn on a writing playlist. I have one specifically made for my current WIP.
3:00 PM
I actually had an easy time writing today and hit ~2,500 words pretty easily. Then after some minor re-outlining on the next few sections I decided to treat myself with another episode of Tale of the Nine Tailed while I worked out. To be candid, I only worked out for 15 minutes of the hour long episode so I painted my nails after to make use of the time in front of the TV. After watching, I wrote about 900 more words and thought it’d be best to call it a day on the writing.
5:00 PM
Dinner turned out to be another low-key in-house creation, a breakfast burrito! It was honestly my second potatoes and egg filled meal of the day but was the perfect amount of food for me. After, I did some minor house cleaning and went back to doing some more blog work, like writing this short post!

All in all, even though I started the weekend with low energy, I feel that I managed to come back to my normal by the end of today. Day light savings tends to throw a wrench in some people’s schedule, but I tried to not let it really affect my day. Thankfully today was a weekend where I didn’t have any social or work obligations and I tried to balance between doing things that I want (like just wanting TV on the couch) with things I know are good for resetting my energy (like eating full meals or reading for long periods of time).
This is admittedly a very simple routine but it’s the one that’s accessible and good enough for what I need in a reset. If you’ve been struggling with low energy and are in need of an accessible reset, hope this helps!
Love,
EJP
