Querying is the process of sending manuscripts and writing samples to literary agents in the hopes that they will take you on as a client and help you sell your work (and future works) to a publishing house to get your book published.
I am currently on a query journey for Project L&P and currently have these materials made:
- A full 85,000 word manuscript for Project L&P that has been drafted and edited multiple times
- A query letter that has the hook and initial premise of Project L&P along with a very short biography
- A synopsis: the entire story in plain language
- A one line pitch for the story
- A paragraph pitch for the story
- Books and TV shows that I would compare my story to based on genre, style, and premise
- Authors that I would compare my work to based on genre, style, and premise
- A list of literary agents I’ve already queried and would like to query in the future for this project
